At the 1987 Andy Williams Open (Buick Invitational), Craig Standler was about to kneel down on the dewy grass to hit a shot on the 14th hole of the third round. He put a towel underneath so he wouldn't get his pants wet. However, he was penalized with a one-stroke penalty under the "no creating a stance" clause of the rule. He didn't realize it and finished the tournament. In the end, Craig Standler was told he was disqualified because he hadn't penalized himself with a stroke the day before.
